The 2nd Hunan Oil Tea Festival opens in You County

CCTV News (Reporter Xu Si) -- On October 26th, the second Hunan Oil Tea Festival, themed "Technology Empowers Oil Tea, Innovation Leads the Future," opened in You County, Zhuzhou, known as the "Hometown of Chinese Oil Tea." Sponsored by the Hunan Provincial Forestry Bureau and the Zhuzhou Municipal People's Government, the festival aims to showcase the latest achievements of Hunan's oil tea industry, discuss strategies for technological empowerment and innovation-driven development, and chart a new blueprint for the development of this multi-billion-yuan industry.

You County, the host county of this year's Camellia Oil Festival, is known as the "Oil Depot of Eastern Hunan" and the "Hometown of Camellia Oil in China." It holds the national geographical indication for "You County Camellia Oil" and is designated a traditional superior food production area in Hunan Province. The county boasts 520,000 mu (approximately 1,000 hectares) of camellia oil forests, boasts over 60% of the national market share for camellia oil seedlings, and has established a comprehensive industry chain encompassing seedling cultivation, planting, processing, and cultural tourism. In 2024, camellia oil production reached 13,000 tons, with a total output value of 2.3 billion yuan. You County's continuous efforts to expand its base, strengthen its brand, strengthen its enterprises, and optimize its industry have laid a solid foundation for developing the camellia oil industry into a multi-billion dollar industry that will enrich forest farmers and drive rural revitalization, providing solid industrial support for this festival.

 

The opening ceremony featured a live video link showcasing the vast camellia oil plantation and smart factory in Youxian County, vividly demonstrating the technological transformation path "from a fruit to a drop of oil." Academician Shan Yang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference sent a video message. Professor Li Dingwen of the First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, along with representatives from "Greater Hunan" enterprises Zhou Xinping and Zhou Quan, participated in interactive interviews to discuss the nutritional health benefits of camellia oil and the development of the digital industry. Two rounds of major project signings were also held, covering areas such as industrial chain cooperation, technological empowerment, and channel expansion, totaling 351 million yuan.
 

To strengthen brand promotion, the organizers appointed host Pan Dan as the "Hunan Camellia Oil Public Welfare Ambassador" and actress Wan Qian as the "Hunan Camellia Oil Public Welfare Promotion Ambassador," and awarded "Hunan Camellia Oil Media Ambassador" certificates to media representatives from 14 cities and prefectures across the province, working together to tell the story of Hunan camellia oil.
 

This year's Camellia Oil Festival also featured a series of activities, including exhibitions and sales of camellia oil products and machinery, tea oil tastings, and on-site company visits. These activities showcased tea oil products, scientific and technological achievements, and derivative products from various cities and prefectures under the "Hunan Camellia Oil" public brand, attracting numerous visitors to stop and experience them.
The Second Hunan Camellia Oil Festival, through its online and offline integration and integrated exhibition and experience, comprehensively showcased the innovative achievements of the entire Hunan camellia oil industry chain, effectively enhancing the influence of the "Hunan Camellia Oil" brand.
